VE6AQO: MB103 based portable radio
The picture below shows Semco MB103 based VHF portable AM/FM (SSB receive only) transmitter and receiver. A DL6SW 2m to 10m converter and a home made 220MHZ to 10m converter are used to receive signals in these bands on 10m. An IC based FM demodulator with the SO-41 is used at 455Khz. An TBA621 based audio Amplifier furnishes speaker operation. The transmitter uses a PLL with the MC145152 at either 2m or 220MHz followed by multi stage amplifiers to produce about 1-2W of carrier power. This is still a work in progress. (Bild1)
The next picture shows a 2m synthesized handheld transceiver, built in 1982. Without using a micro computer it has 32 memories, two independent VFOs, programmable channel spacing and repeater shifts. The heart of the frequency control system is an Intersil 7217 LSI. A battery backed 4-bit CMOS RAM stores all data. RF power output is 3W or 300mW. (Bild2)
